On April 5, 2024, at around 11:45 a.m., Cole Brings Plenty’s body was found in a rural area of Johnson County, Kansas, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, after deputies received reports about an unoccupied car.
In a press release, the authorities shared that the deputies “discovered a deceased male in a wooded area away from the vehicle,” who was later identified as Brings Plenty. A cause of death has not been revealed, as the case remains under investigation.
Brings Plenty is the nephew of Yellowstone star Mo Brings Plenty and a recurring actor in 1923, a prequel to Yellowstone. He portrayssheepherder Pete Plenty Clouds.
On April 2,Lawrence Kansas Police Department identified Brings Plenty as the suspect in an alleged domestic violence incident at an apartment complex on Sunday morning. “Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived. The investigation identified Brings Plenty and traffic cameras showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, traveling southbound on 59 Highway,” the officials wrote on Facebook.
Authorities added that they identified Cole as the suspect and had “probable cause for his arrest, and issued an alert to area agencies.”
Mo shared a missing person’s poster on Instagram at the time and asked the public for help finding his nephew. In the post, he wrote that Cole had been last seen on the evening of March 31 in a white Ford Explorer. According to the poster, the 27-year-old was last seen spotted in Lawrence, Kansas, in his car in the “early morning hours.” In the following days, Mo shared two more missing-person posters stating what they know and don’t know about the case.
After Brings Plenty’s body was eventually found, his uncle penned an emotional statement on Instagram and thanked everyone who joined in the search for Cole.

“I am deeply saddened to confirm that my son, Cole, has been found and is no longer with us,” he wrote. “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts you sent for Cole. We would also like to thank everyone who came to walk beside us as we searched for my son and provided the resources we needed to expand our search areas. I learned this week how many people knew the goodness in Cole’s heart and loved him.”
The Yellowstone star continued, “During this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy as we process our grief and figure out how we move forward. Please know we appreciate you and appreciate your understanding.”
