If you've been playing Sea of Thieves, chances are you've run into one or more of the game's puzzling treasure riddles. While some of these riddles are easier than others to figure out, some may leave you baffled as to where to find them on the map and the actions you need to do to complete them. In this guide, we've begun compiling a list of every Sea of Thieves riddle we've come across so far along with solutions to the puzzles. We've included important information like where the island is located and steps you'll need to follow to unearth the treasure. As we find and unlock more puzzles we'll keep adding to the guide. One important thing to note is that some of the islands will have different puzzles or riddles leading to the same location. If the riddle we have listed isn't the same as yours, following the directions we've given should still help you complete the goal. As we find more related riddles, we'll try to compile those as well.

'Sea of Thieves' Riddle Guide: Locations and Solutions for Completing Every Treasure Puzzle Quest in the Game
Sea Of Thieves 'Devil's Ridge' Location and Riddle Solution
"Devil's Ridge has riches vast, from forgotten stories in the past.
From the Legendary Lone Hunter on the North beach, ye are getting near,
9 paces East-by-North East and shovel here."
- Step #1: Find Devil's Ridge Location - to complete this riddle, you'll need to find Devil's Ridge's location and sail there. When searching the naval chart you'll find its exact location at U-24.
- Step #2: Drop Anchor in North East - once you get near to Devil's Ridge, to find treasure, you'll want to navigate to the Northmost part of the island. Once there, drop your anchor and go ashore.
- Step #3: Find "Lone Hunter" Cave Paintings - once on shore, keep a lookout for walls with some cave paintings on them. They will feature a red hunter holding a spear (Legendary Lone Hunter). When you've found those paintings, turn yourself so that you are facing East-by-North East
- Step #4: Take 9 Steps - Facing East-by-North East, take nine steps as indicated by the clue.
- Step #5: Start Digging - After 9 steps you should be at the location for solving the Devil's Ridge riddle. If you don't find the loot in that exact location, you can try stepping one pace north, south, east or west of the spot and dig there also as some players have had difficulty finding it exactly after nine paces. The chest's location will be quite near the water.
Sea Of Thieves 'Thieves Haven' Location and Riddle Solution
For gold to Thieves' Haven you sail, but I'll take a wager you will fail.
Reading this map a clue you'll see
If at the painted heavens up high to the North East ye standing be
Find the mark of the Red Eye Parrot above the North Inner waters, you salty dog
9 paces North East, have a did and then a grog.
- Step #1: Find Devil's Ridge Location - to complete this riddle, you'll need to find the Thieves Haven location and sail there. On the naval chart you'll find its exact location straddled between P-24 and P-25.
- Step #2: Grab a Crew And Prepare for a Storm - According to Gosunoob.com, getting to Thieves Haven is hard. You'll be facing an incredible wind storm and it will take everything in your power just to anchor your ship. You'll want to take a crewmate along as he or she will come in handy for dealing with holes in the hull or handling the sails. Once you manage to moor your ship, step onto land and you'll be given your next clue.
- Step #3: Find "Painted Heavens" Cave Paintings - after getting your next clue, you'll want to walk to the northmost part of the island to the North East. You'll be searching for more cave paintings showing a moon and some stars. Keep an eye out for a wooden crane and platform near the bay. There will be a low stone wall near there with the painting on it.
- Step #4: Check Map - Once you've found the painting, pull out your map and look at it. The next part of the clue about the Red Parrot will appear. After you've read it, head in the direction of the bay where the next portion of the clue will be found.
- Step #5: Find "Red Eyed Parrot" - Once you reach the bay, look to the North side of it till you find a long ladder. Climb it and once at the top, look to your left. You should see a rock there with the Red Eyed Parrot painted on it. Position yourself next to the Parrot and then take nine steps to the North East.
- Step #6: Start Digging - After 9 steps you should be at the location for solving the Thieves Haven riddle. If you don't find the loot in that exact location, you can try stepping one pace north, south, east or west of the spot and dig there also.
Sea Of Thieves 'Crook's Hollow' Location and Riddle Solution
After mutiny and plunder, now come to rest, on Crook's Hollow to hide my chest.

Dig 6 paces South-by-South East a treasure's lurking
- Step #1: Find Crook's Hollow Location - to complete this riddle, you'll need to find the Crook's Hollow location and sail there. On the naval chart you'll find its exact location at Q-19
- Step #2: Find 'Endless Lizard' Painting - The next part of the clue requires finding the right cave where the Lizard painting is located. The best way to find it is to look for the Wooden Pier. You'll see a cave near it. Go into that cave and go down it till you see a skeleton lying against a wall. You'll see the remains of a campfire there as well. Look at the wall opposite the skeleton and you'll see a painting with two lizards chasing each other in a circle.
- Step #3: Walk and Dig - Once you've found the paintings, pull out our compass and tin until it shows South-by-South East. Take six steps in that direction and the start digging for the treasure.
Sea Of Thieves 'Shark Bait Cove' Location and Riddle Solution
Shark Bait Cove you may be bound, in search of fortune in the ground.
Find the campfire at the remains of the fishing camp on the South West shores, you salty dog
7 paces West-by-North West, have a dig and then a grog.
- Step #1: Find Shark Bait Cove Location - to complete this riddle, you'll need to find the Shark Bait Cove location and sail there. On the naval chart you'll find the location of this archipelago at 1-24.
- Step #2: Go To Southwestern Island - Once you're getting near the archipelago, look for the outer ring and sail to the island in the southwestern part of it. Anchor your ship there and go ashore.
- Step #4: Find 'Fishing Camp' Painting - Once on shore, find the part of it that faces towards the ocean. Somewhere in that area you should see a stone wall with a painting of a stick person fishing. Look around till you see ruins of a boat and a campfire that still burns. Position yourself next to the campfire.
- Step #5: Walk and Dig - From you spot next to the campfire, walk seven paces West-by-North West and start digging around till you find the chest (there will be a small rock in the sand near the right location).
Sea Of Thieves 'Snake Island' Location and Riddle Solution
On Snake Island a sight to behold, wonders of a tale untold
The Sunstone on the South West beach of the largest isle
Holds secrets untold, & paces West-by-North West dig a fine hole.
- Step #1: Find Snake Island Location - to complete this riddle, you'll need to find the the Shark Bait Cove location and sail there. On the naval chart you'll find the location of of this island at N-19.
- Step #2: Go To Center Island - As you sail to the right location, Snake Island will be the largest and centermost Island in the group. Head to the South West side of the island, drop anchor and head ashore.
- Step #4: Find 'Sunstone' Painting - Once on shore look around till you find a really big rock with a painted red Sun on it. Stand next to the sunstone to prepare for your final step.
- Step #5: Walk and Dig - From you spot next to the Sunstone, walk seven paces West-by-North West. The place where you'll do your digging is in a small alcove in the cliff.
