How to Store Bath Bombs and Shower Steamers (2024)

There are few experiences more luxurious in the modern world than a little R&R time in your own home. At Cait + Co, we take relaxing seriously (but with a smile on our faces!). We handcrafted two incredible product lines to make your next at-home spa experience that much better. Meet the main characters: our Aromatherapy Shower Steamers and nourishing Bath Bombs.

However, in order to maintain the best experience with the highest-quality ingredients, you’ll need to be sure you’re storing them properly. Otherwise, the products can lose their fragrance, or worse, become contaminated with dirt or debris from the bathroom. Talk about getting the “ick.”

To help keep the bath and shower experience luxurious (while also making your bathroom a tad cuter – you’re welcome!), we’re breaking down the best steamer and bath bomb storage options.

Best Storage for Bath Bombs

Because bath bombs rely on moisture to activate, it’s best to keep them completely dry until use. That means avoiding excessive steam, too. You can also cut them in half to use for two baths. Here are a few cute ideas for keeping yours safe:

A Cute Jar

Easy, efficient, and cost-effective, a glass jar makes the perfect home for your bath bombs. Any jar will do so long as it has a tight lid to keep outside elements away from the contents of the bath bombs..

If you can snag a clear jar, you can have fun with the arrangement of bath bombs and make the jar a statement piece in your bathroom. A 2-for-1 storage *and* decor option? Sign us up!

Bags

If you can’t find a cute jar, a sealed plastic bag can work! If you’re keeping your stand-by bath bombs hidden away, the plastic bags can also be much easier for storage than a bulky jar.

Simply place your bath bombs in the bag and tuck them away beneath your sink or in a drawer. For best results, individually wrap the bath bombs in shrink-wrap. Alternatively, group similar scents together to avoid crossing scents.

Bathscaping

Bathscaping is a joyous experience that brings the aesthetics right into your tub. If you were to add a table that stretches the width of the tub, you could set a few bath bombs on it to add to the overall feel of the room.

Just keep in mind that this is only recommended for bath bombs intended to be used soon. Otherwise, the bath bomb will absorb moisture in the bathroom and become less reactive.

Getting the Most Use Out of Your Shower Steamer

Once activated, shower steamers typically last for a few shower sessions. Our Aromatherapy Shower Steamers hang in a mesh bag and are activated by steam. To prevent them getting wet, keep them wrapped until you plan to take that first shower. Once opened, avoid putting them directly under the stream of water (except when activating it), or the steamer will wash away!

How Long Do Bath Bombs and Shower Steamers Last?

As long as they’re properly stored, unused bath bombs and shower steamers can last for several months or up to a year. After a year, they are still usable, but the “wow” factor diminishes. For this reason, it’s recommended that you use your bath bombs and shower steamers on or before the six-month mark in order to get that full experience. Otherwise, the scent can become less potent and the fizziness less active. Remember, the sooner, the better!
