Making Cheese and Onion Bread in the Bread Machine

This makes a two-pound loaf of bread using the basic setting with medium crust.

Follow the instructions that came with yourbread machine in terms of which ingredients to put in the machine first. In my machine, I add the liquids first.

Note that this recipe calls for red onion. You can use other varieties, but I think the bread is best with red onions.

Be sure to check on the dough after five or ten minutes of kneading. Open the top of the bread machine to see how the dough is doing. It should be a smooth, round ball.

If the dough is too dry add liquid a teaspoon at a time until it looks right. If it looks too wet, add flour a tablespoon at a time until it looks right.
